Transform Your Soil with Biochar

Healthier Plants. Happier Soil. Holistically Good Gardening.

What is Bio Char?

The result? A long-lasting, charcoal-like material packed with tiny pores that hold nutrients & water, improve soil structure, and support plant growth.

✅ Perfect for pots, beds & borders
✅ Boosts water retention & plant health
✅ 100% natural, locally made from organic waste

What is Biochar?

Why Gardeners Love Biochar?

Enriches Soils and Builds Microbe Megacities

Biochar dynamically creates a thriving habitat for the microbial life that breaks down organic matter and feeds your plants. It also improves soil texture, prevents compaction, and increases aeration– particularly important in dense, heavy soils that get waterlogged easily.

In trials, biochar-amended soils showed:

  • 20-40% improved soil porosity
  • Better root growth and nutrient uptake
  • Higher levels of beneficial bacteria and fungi
Why Gardeners Love Biochar

Improves Nutrient &
Water Retention

Biochar’s honeycomb structure acts like a sponge, soaking up nutrients and water before slowly releasing it back to your plants when your plants need them. Especially helpful in:

  • Sandy soils
  • Pots and containers
  • Hot or drought-prone gardens

Grow Healthier Plants

Biochar helps roots dig deeper and draw in nutrients more efficiently. Gardeners report healthier flowers, bigger yields, and better resistance to disease across plants including tomatoes, strawberries, and peppers.

It’s especially useful for:

  • Improving root veg performance (carrots, potatoes, beets)
  • Helping young plants establish faster
  • Boosting blooms in containers or borders

Safe, Organic & Long-Lasting

Biochar is:

  • Non-toxic and free of synthetic chemicals
  • Certified safe for gardens, with pollutant levels lower than average garden soil
  • Extremely stable. A single application can last for decades or longer, unlike composts or mulches

How to Use Biochar in the Garden

Raw biochar can temporarily soak up nutrients from the soil, so it’s best to “charge” it first.

How?
Mix 50/50 with compost, leaf mulch, worm castings or manure and leave for 1–2 weeks. Or simply soak it in compost tea.

Safe, Organic & Long-Lasting

  • Containers: Use 5–10% of the total potting mix
  • Borders: Mix 1–2 handfuls per square metre into the topsoil
  • New plants: Add to planting holes before transplanting

Good for Your Garden & the Planet

Unlike compost or mulch, biochar does not break down quickly. It stays in your soil for decades- locking away carbon and fighting climate change.

Just 1kg of biochar removes up to 3kg of CO₂ from the atmosphere, storing it in your soil for generations. That’s climate action, in your yard.
